SDCC13: The Force Is Strong With PETCO

Share Your Star Wars Passion With Your Pets...

Petco, yes the very same pet supply store known across the nation, made a surprise visit at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The occassion? A new line of officially licensed Star Wars themed pet clothing and toys. The Star Wars Pet Fans Collection will launch September 1, 2013 at Peco's nationwide and will feature super cute (and cool) doggy coats styled after popular Star Wars characters, such as Boba Fett and Chewbacca. I suggested to Petco a fuzzy Wampa coat would be neat, ala something seen in the "Wampug" video that went viral not too long ago. Petco replied that what you see at Comic-Con is only the beginning of the line and that many more designs are planned (I think I saw him jotting down some notes

Canines aren't the only pets to receive Star Wars love. Also shown was a series of cat toys, including little mice decked out like Yoda and Vader, stringed feather balls (love the Death Star) and an assortment of plush playthings such as a TIE Fighter and Millennium Falcon. All very gimmicky, for sure, but as a lifelong Star Wars fan and pet lover the temptation to give into the Dark Side was strong. I have a chihuahua/ boston terrier mix named Bobo that I already visualize as Bobo Fett come September 1st.
