Sci-fi visionary Gerry Anderson died on Wednesday in Oxfordshire, England. He was 83. Most famous for his influential film work with puppets and spaceships in the 1960's British children's show Thunderbirds, Mr. Anderson went on to entertain adult audiences with his live actor series Space:1999. His other works included U.F.O., Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, Stingray, Supercar and Fireball XL5. Collectibles from all of Gerry Anderson's creations have seen production over the years, a stunning 12" die-cast model of a Space:1999 Eagle Transporter (below) being one prominent piece in my toy collection. Through his creative contributions in film and collectibles, Gerry Anderson's legacy will live on.
