There's something about Vampirella that's simply timeless. While she was originally brought to life by Forrest J Ackerman and costume designer Trina Robbins over 40 years ago, the sexy vampire superheroine has seen a resurgence of popularity recently due to a new comic series from Dynamite Entertainment. The daughter of Lilith, Vampirella - like all vampires - needs blood. However, since she's a superheroine, she will not attack humans...unless she herself is attacked. Of course, one better come ready for war if facing off against this beauty since Vampirella doesn't share the same weaknesses as other vampires; she isn't harmed by daylight, holy water, garlic, or crosses. She of course can transform into a bat, grow wings from her back, has super strength and reflexes, a healing factor and, for all intents and purposes, is immortal. Best of all, Vampirella dresses for success in a red sling suit with white collar and black boots (seen here).

    PACKAGING

Like other 1/4 scale Premium Format Figures, Vampirella comes packaged in a durable cardboard box featuring the appropriate graphics and text. The front of the box features a painted image of the character across the full box, perfectly complimenting the box and ensuring potential buyers and collectors know what's inside. Likewise, the statue itself is well protected inside a foam interior which includes die-cut portions to hold each and every part of the statue.

    SCULPTING

Designed and developed by Jesse Lincoln, Adam Smith, Seth Rinaldi and David Igo with sculpting duties by Mark Newman, Sideshow Collectibles has captured this gorgeous undead beauty perfectly as a part of their ongoing line of Premium Format Figures. Every detail is included here, from her seductive misty eyes, gold batwing earrings, and white collar to her blood red nail polish and lip stick and gold arm bands.

Created in 1/4 scale and measuring 13" high seated atop the dragon's skull base, this statue makes for both an imposing piece and a gorgeous display. At 10" wide and almost 15" long, this Vampirella statue is an impressive and delectable collectible. Even if you've never heard of the character or you're not a fan, it's hard to find this figure unattractive.

Seductively seated astride the dragon's skull, Vampirella has a confident look on her face which is only matched by her body's posture, which oozes sexuality and speaks volumes about her lusty attitude. And with her raven black hair flowing down her back, Vampirella is enchanting, ensuring even the most rigid man swoons.

Something worth mentioning is the tremendous amount of detail in the base, which - besides the dragon's skull - includes a stone-like floor covered with human skulls, bones, and even a rat. It's the addition of these types of extras in a sculpture that makes Sideshow Collectibles one of the best collectibles companies in the business.

    OUTFIT/CLOTHING

Like other Premium Format Figures, Vampirella too includes multi-media in her construction. The figure's red sling suit is constructed of a faux leather/vinyl-like material and helps make breath life - or death? - into this piece even more. Gidget Earle has done an excellent job fabricating the clothing, which includes the skin-tight red sling suit and black boots. Vampirella truly pops off the comic page and is - as always - bursting at the seams of her outfit. Curvy in all the right places, Vampirella's clothing could be characterized as "barely there," which is no doubt one of the main reasons fan boys love this undead beauty.

    PAINT APPLICATION

Thanks to artist David Fisher, the paints help bring this figure to life even more, complimenting the voluptuous sculpt by providing both depth and shading. The skin tones are spot-on as are the minute details around the previously mentioned eyes, fingernails, arm bands, and lips.

Again worth mentioning, the base (above) includes a gorgeous paint application which brings an amazing look to the stone floor, dragon's skull, human bones, and rat. The amazing amount of colors here, though so very similar, gives the base a life-like appearance.

    COST & OVERALL IMPRESSION

With a retail price of $349.99, this is more than likely one specifically for the die-hard fans, though some casual fans with disposable income may want to add this to their collection. Vampirella has never been a mainstream character and, while that no doubt has its disadvantages, it also means she's somewhat of a cult phenomenon. In reality, she's everything a horror fan boy wants in a girlfriend - she's super sexy, elegant, responsible, caring, generous, wears little clothing...and could tear your head off just as easily as wink at you. Yup, she's exactly what guys look for in a woman. Too bad she's a fictional, undead vampire hellspawn.

With an amazing, comic-accurate sculpt, perfect clothing design, and an incredibly detailed paint application, the Sideshow Collectibles' Vampirella Premium Format Figure is a "must have" for any fan of the classic vampire heroine. Likewise, this piece is well worth a look for any horror comic fan or...in reality...any collector really who wants a statue of a sexy, scantily clad vampire on their shelf.
