With the growing anticipation for the upcoming third season of AMC's The Walking Dead exploding to an all time high across the world, it has easily become one the most viewed TV shows on syndicated cable. This year, the San Diego Convention Center became ground zero for all things Walking Dead with a widespread presence all over the show's massive exhibit hall. Among the plethora of activities, attendees could sign up to win a one-of-a-kind Hyundai Elantra GT wrapped in the cover art by Charlie Adlard from Walking Dead #100 and be photographed inside the new 2013 zombie-proofed Hyundai Elantra coupe. In the gaming area, fans could get a free ear necklace just by pre-ordering the upcoming Walking Dead video game and fans had the rare opportunity to pose as one of Michone's zombie pets at the Walking Dead booth.

This year, the Walking Dead panel moved up to the enormous Hall H which usually houses all the big Hollywood productions. This was a clear indication of how popular the TV show has become. As expected, fans lined up since the crack of dawn outside the convention center to assure themselves a seat at the panel. The panel was hosted by Talking Dead’s very own Chris Hardwick and the majority of the cast was in attendance including Sarah Wayne Callies (Laurie Grimes), Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Steven Yeun (Glenn), Lauren Cohan (Maggie Green), Laurie Holden (Andrea) and David Morrissey (The Governor). The official date for the first episode of season 3 was announced: Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 9 PM ET on AMC. This was followed by the debut of the epic 4 minute trailer for Season 3. The panel ended with a Q & A session and one very lucky woman in the crowd was chosen to be turned into a zombie and have a life size bust casted in her likeness at Greg Nicotero's studios. After the panel, the entire cast along with Greg Nicotero and creator Robert Kirkman headed over to the Walking Dead booth and hosted an autograph session.

As if the awesome panel, signing and photo opportunity were'nt enough, several new Walking Dead collectibles were on display at the Gentle Giant booth. Among the awesome pieces on display, were a Rick Grimes bust, a grotesque Well Zombie bust and an amazing set of Walking Dead bookends consisting of a trio of zombie arms reaching up from a triangular base with the Walking Dead logo. Fans could also visit the Skybound/Walking Dead booth to purchase the SDCC exclusive Michone action figure with cloak and stock up an all their Walking Dead needs including, hats, messanger bags, t-shirts and books.

There is no doubt that Comic-Con 2012 belonged to the Walking Dead this year and hopefully this will become a permanent trend for years to come.
