The Green Hornet - TV Series Action Figure Box Set

Factory Entertainment takes on the classic TV series...

Following on the heels of modern toys from THE GREEN HORNET feature film (read our review HERE), Factory Entertainment goes back in time to do a treatment on the original 1966 television series starring Van Williams and Bruce Lee. There hasn’t been a lot of love in the toy world for the original show so this might be your only chance to get detailed collector figures.

The box set is intended only for persons aged 14 years and over, but I’m not exactly sure why. These figures are closer to being statues, much like the figures made for the feature film. There’s not a lot of articulation for creating your own poses, which is disappointing, but there are a few swivel arms and neck joints to make smaller adjustments.

The packaging is a simple green box with a window in the front displaying the two figures in a plastic tray. The text is written in a basic font that doesn’t exactly jump out at you while a flashier Green Hornet logo can be found on the top of the box as well as the back.

The sculpt work here by Ruben Procopio and Bryan Wynia is pretty detailed, but as mentioned above, you’re essentially stuck with a static pose without a lot of room for change. It’s actually somewhat more awkward for Kato since he’s in a battle stance and Green Hornet is pretty motionless. Both figures stand approximately 7” tall.

The paint work could probably be a little cleaner than it is. Taking a closer look you can see where the lines on the face could be more neatly applied around the mask.

Each figure comes with its own stand and a pair of swappable hands. The display stands are essential, as the figures cannot stand on their own without it. Each stand is black and carries a Green Hornet logo on it. Since the figures are a duo, it would have been great to see a display that was made to hold both figures. The oval shape for each makes for awkward positioning on the shelf since you couldn’t line them up that close together.

The included swappable hands allows for a little bit more variety. Green Hornet comes with a pair of hands holding his cane weapon. The cane is molded to its hands so it actually makes for some difficulty when swapping hands. Be careful not to bend the cane but it’s almost impossible not to. The other hands are individual and preferred in my display, one holding a pistol, the other is free.

Kato comes holding nunchucks which aren’t removable from his hands. To swap, he comes with a hand holding a dart and another hand posed for attack.

I do prefer this set of Green Hornet and Kato figures over the ones made for the film as they make for a better display. This pair can be found through www.factoryent.com, along with many other Green Hornet collectibles, priced at $39.99. Almost $20 a figure is kinda high, but if you’re a fan of the original show, this may be your only shot!

Thumbs up Re: The Green Hornet - TV Series Action Figure Box Set

    These look great!

I'd love to have Kato taking on the Crazy 88s or something like that.

So there were also other figs made for the movie? Never heard about those AT ALL.

    Yeah, these: https://www.figures.com/forums/news/1...n-figures.html

Being that Factory Entertainment is rather new and certainly not known for figures, I can see why you missed them.
