#4 HASBRO'S STAR WARS VINTAGE COLLECTION

In addition to their great Clone Wars animated toy line, Hasbro continued to release action figures from the live-action Star Wars Saga. Our favorites were those in the Vintage Collection, tweaked classics packaged on a retro blister card that replicated their original release. For us, this ongoing series is all about nostalgia - recollecting all of our favorite characters, who upon their first release, we all hastily opened. While the original trilogy figures bring back the best memories, even the prequels received their fair share of "Vintage" attention this year. The fun also extended to Star Wars vehicles as we saw some great ones re-released this year in classic boxes: Y-Wing, B-Wing, Landspeeder, and Luke's Tauntaun. A highlight this year was the "Revenge of the Jedi" carded set released as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive. Retro figures from a movie that never was - the title being changed to "Return of the Jedi" before any figures were released.

    #3 NECA'S TERMINATOR

Following last year's popular Terminator 2 action figures, NECA went back to the movie that started it all with awesome renditions of Ahhnold as the unstoppable cybernetic killing machine. Long overdue, fans finally received an action figure of Schwarzenegger decked out in his '80s punk attire armed with his trademark "Uzi 9mm" and ".45 Longslide with laser sighting". While the Tech Noir T-800 was hot, it was the Police Station Assault T-800 that set collectors on fire. Pulled from the epic showdown towards the end of the movie, this figure featured the Terminator in his most iconic attire: leather biker jacket and shades. Armed with a machine gun and shotgun akimbo style, this was the one Terminator figure to get - a terrific tribute to one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made.

    #2 BLITZWAY'S 12" SCARFACE

One of the finest crafted figures of 2011, Blitzway's 12" Scarface stands as an incredible testimony to the timelessness of Tony Montana, the main character in the critically-acclaimed, fan-favorite 1983 film Scarface. Blitzway's 12" Tony Montana figure comes packed ready to rule with an impressive base and monogramed chair that's sure to make the rest of your 1/6th scale figures jealous.

#1 HOT TOYS' MMS DX JACK SPARROW

Hot Toys does it again! Year after year the folks at the Hong Kong based collectibles company make it on our "Best Of" list with multiple entries that show the attention to detail, quality product, and remarkable talent that make Hot Toys one of the best collectible figure companies in the world. One of our two picks for the best Hot Toys offerings for the year is also one of their last releases this year, and quite possibly their most amazing figure to date.

Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides marks the 8th figure released by Hot Toys from the popular movie franchise and the 3rd version of the main protagonist played by the uber-talented Johnny Depp. Hot Toys has nailed the actor's likeness once again and the personality of the character shows in both the serious and grinning facial expressions due in no small part to the incredible sculpting paired with the use of the their PERS rolling eye feature. The figure is decked out in a high-quality costume that is accented by a variety of small details capturing the most intricate part of his wardrobe. In addition to the figure itself, Hot Toys threw in some great accessories including a miniaturized Black Pearl in a bottle, a giant extended telescope (Sideshow Exclusive), and the entire freakin' steering wheel of the Black Pearl! The remarkable attention to detail and fantastic replication of the outfit from the film, along with the phenomenal sculpt, will surely be the standard of excellence that all future entries will be held to.

The Tech Noir T-800 is my favorite figure of the year. Thanks for mentioning it!
