There's no doubt Iron Man has been and continues to be a hot ticket for Hot Toys. The line's roster continues to grow and, with the new "Secret Project" black and gray MMS exclusive being the 15th figure in the series, the line shows no signs of slowing down.

The original release of the Iron Man Mark IV was previously reviewed HERE and like the previously released figure, this new "Secret Project" Iron Man Mark IV MMS figure includes a wide variety of details, accessories, and articulation. Unlike the previously released figure, this new MMS exclusive features an impressive black and gray paint application, giving it a unique look similar to the previously released War Machine MMS figure.

    PACKAGING:

Uniquely created for this exclusive Toy Show release, the simple, matte black box with gold lettering on the front and artist and production information on the back holds the figure securely in molded plastic sleeves, which protect the figure along with the accessories.

    SCULPT & ARTICULATION:

Featuring the exact same design (and thus sculpt) of the previously released figure, the Secret Project Iron Man Mark IV is impressive to behold. As previously mentioned in the original review, the figure design includes smooth, aerodynamic lines and impressive detail.

Likewise, thanks to the improved design (compared to the Mark III), the articulation has also improved, allowing the figure to be positioned in more film-accurate battle stances.

    PAINT APPLICATION:

The matte black and gray paint application make this figure stand out compared to the many other bright, shiny red and yellow Iron Man figures which have been released so far. The only figure similar in color and look to this one is War Machine, and the pair, when displayed together, look impressive (bottom).

    ACCESSORIES:

As previously mentioned, this figure - like the first Mark IV release - features a wide variety of accessories, including an impressive light-up base, multiple pairs of hands, a uniquely colored pair of black and gray sunglasses, and an updated head sculpt of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.

The light-up base may be the most impressive of the accessories as it includes a clear pole which can be used to pose the figure in mid-flight (below). Impressive on display on any die-hard fan's shelf, this is one figure that'll make fans of both the Iron Man comics and the Iron Man live-action films.

    COST & OVERALL IMPRESSION:

With an original retail price of $215, this exclusive is sold out. The only way to find it now is on the secondary market, where prices start at $300. Limited in number, the Secret Project Iron Man Mark IV is an impressive package with a solid number of accessories (including an updated headsculpt of RDJ as Tony Stark and a light-up flight base). As an exclusive, it's aimed at the die-hard fans, but would make a nice addition to any fan of Iron Man or high-end 1/6th scale figures...if they're willing to pay the secondary market price.
