While there was little doubt it wouldn't happen, it is now official: Gearbox has announced that Borderlands 2 will see release in 2012. The sequel to 2009's popular shoot-and-loot video game, Borderlands 2 will feature all new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment. Players will reveal secrets, and escalate mysteries of the Borderlands universe as they adventure across the unexplored new areas of Pandora.

As fans of the game are fully aware of, NECA will be releasing an action figure of Claptrap later this month (you can pre-order him HERE). The hilarious robot will stand 4" tall and will feature full articlaution and a display base. To find out if NECA will be producing more figures based on Borderlands 2, we went to NECA's Head of Product Development Randy Falk who replied with the exciting news:

Our good friends at Gearbox shared this news with us a few weeks ago at Comic-Con. I am on a plane tomorrow to visit them in Texas and to see what is in store for Borderlands 2. Expect a full range of figures, weapons and more. We can’t wait to start working on this!!
