    SDCC11: New S.H. Monster Arts

Godzilla and company receive the high-end action figure treatment...

San Diego Comic-Con coverage brought to you by Tonner, Collectibles Insurance, and Big Bad Toy Store.

At Comic-Con 2011, Bandai/ Bluefin debuted to America an exciting new action figure line under their S.H. Figurarts banner. Called S.H. Monster Arts, the series will capture Toho's pop culture sensation, Godzilla, as well as his many foes and allies and transform them into highly detailed, articulated and accessorized collectibles.

To show off this new line, Bandai/ Bluefin had an amazing diorama on display of Godzilla taking on Mechagodzilla, SpaceGodzilla, and Moguera - all on top of the San Diego Convention Center! The Bluefin rep pointed out that the damage being caused by the bad guys (see top picture) is pretty much were the Bandai/ Bluefin booth is located. In other words, we'd be toast (thanks for the help Godzilla!).

The first S.H. Monster Arts figure releases will be the King of Monsters himself, Godzilla (1994) come November and Mechagodzilla (from his second film appearance) in December. These will retail for $70-$80 each, which is an increase for your typical SHFigurarts release, but these approximately 6-inch tall figures will include die-cast content in addiiton to numerous blast effects and a display stand. The figures will star about 29 points of articulation. Future S.H. Monster Arts releases include SpaceGodzilla and Moguera. With dozens of characters to choose from, Bandai/ Bluefin will not be running out of figures to produce anytime soon.
