With the vinyl craze spreading all over the world, Disney was bound to notice. In 2008, Disney Theme Park Merchandise created VINYLMATION (coined by “Vinyl” and “Animation”), a series of collectible figures in the shape of Mickey Mouse, but with a design and character all of its own. These theme park exclusive items have been a favorite for Disney fans young and old as the line has resembled favorite theme park attractions, Disney characters, Star Wars characters, Muppets, and more.

Now, with the launch of Vinylmation Robots (see our Comic-Con story HERE), Disney Stores nation-wide are getting into the fun. "Robots" was created exclusively by the Disney Store Artists and can only be found at the Disney Store or DisneyStore.com beginning July 22, 2011. Each figurine stands three inches tall and comes in eleven varieties. A twelfth variation is a mystery chaser figure and comes one per case.

At $9.95, these collectible figurines are fun to collect and trade, and with these retro robot designs, they should be even more popular with the masses. There are also three larger 9-inch tall Vinylamtion Robots that will cost $39.95 and exclusive to 700 units each.

Vinylmation Robots are blind boxed, meaning you won't know what you'll end up with until you purchase it and open it up. There are no refunds, exchanges or returns. BUT, at D-Street Stores and other locations at the Disney Resorts, there are trading stations where you can trade your Vinylmation Robot for another. Or simply buy a case of 24 and collect them all.

Every Vinylmation Robot features the exact same sculpt of Mickey Mouse, it’s the paint and design that will differ. The Robot pictured here is the Steampunk-Bot deisgned by Gerald Mendez. Other Vinylmation Robots are designed by Disney Store artists Jim Valeri, Marcella Lau, Enrique Pita, and Oskar Mendez.
