This past Saturday night, Gearbox Software held a launch party fit for a king, an incredible tribute to their new video game: Duke Nukem Forever. The party was held at the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas, TX (the game studio is located in nearby Plano, TX), which ended up being the perfect venue for the Duke himself. Me and a friend entered the party shortly after 8 PM and were instantly treated to listening to the totally rocking band Say Hello to the Angels, who also just happened to be responsible for Duke Nukem's soundtrack!

We ventured to the back of the club and found a total of 6 PCs with the game running on 3D enabled monitors. There was an awesome custom gaming rig (pictured above) which had the Xbox 360 version running at full speed. I got to the play the game for about 10 minutes ending in, I must say, an epic boss battle. As I turned around to talk to my buddy about the game I noticed that the Duke’s throne was occupied by none other than the Duke himself and joined by the lovely Holsom twins (top)!

At around nine, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford came on stage to discuss the night’s celebration and all the hard work that was put into the development of the long awaited game. He recognized several partners in the game’s creation, such as Triptych Games, Piranha Games, and nVidia.

Guests were then treated to the sensational song and dance routines of the voluptuous girls of Coyote Ugly. When the girls were done tantalizing the enthralled crowd, the best-selling techno duo The Crystal Method came on stage and absolutely blew everyone away. I was lucky enough to be within feet of the stage during their performance, loving every minute of it.

When The Crystal Method finished up, Randy Pitchford came onstage again and entertained the crowd by beatboxing and rapping. Yeah, he should definitely stick to his day job of making hit games. And to end the night, DJ Jazzy Jeff came onstage and entertained the crowd with his trademark style of high level beats and mixes. At the end, I’d definitely say that Gearbox definitely knows how to throw a party... and make an amazing game!

Duke Nukem Forever is available now for all major gaming consoles and PC computers. Come get some!
