As Marvel prepares to embark on their very first Avengers motion picture project, the mighty heroes are being unleashed onto your TV in this all new animated series. For those who were not able to catch the first explosive season of the animated series on Disney XD earlier this year, now’s your chance.

Marvel’s ambitious Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is an action-packed thrill ride from beginning to end. Set in modern day, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes brings back the nostalgia of the great cartoons of the 80’s and 90’s with its vibrant colors and thrilling episodes. This new animated series will appeal to Marvel fans of all ages and also provides a great launching point for those who are not very familiar with The Avengers. In terms of storyline, Earth's Mightiest Heroes does a fantastic job at providing a substantial foundation for the core team members of The Avengers and introduces these characters to audiences in their original costumes which is great to see since most of The Avengers have undergone significant costume design changes in the past years through the comics.

The bulk of the episodes found on the Volume 1 DVD focus on the background stories of the protagonists of the show and lead to the first multi-part storyline Breakout Part 1 & 2. The first 5 episodes are very character-driven stories which provide a lot of insight about the core team members - Captain America, Ant Man, Thor, Hulk and Iron Man - and explore the individual origins of each Avenger. In the episode Meet Captain America, viewers are taken back to the origins of the star-spangled Avenger and his sidekick Bucky as they fight their way through the malevolent forces of Hydra during World War II. The episode serves as an introduction to Captain America for young audiences as the character has not appeared in any other Marvel animated shows in many years. In Thor The Mighty, the episode starts off on Earth as Thor unleashes his mighty wrath on the Wrecking Crew and saves the day returning to his home in Asgard shortly after only to find that it is under attack by an army of frost giants led by his brother Loki.

Volume 2 of The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes features an additional six action-packed episodes leading to the cataclysmic two-parter Gamma World and rounds out the entire first season of the animated series. Each volume of Earth's Mightiest Heroes includes a special behind-the-scenes feature which offers fans an advanced look at what's in store for season two. The two-part exclusive content includes producer and writer commentary discussing what's in store for The Avengers in the upcoming season along with an advanced look at new character reveals and costume changes the heroes will be going through.

With its fast-paced action, amazing character art and entertaining storylines, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is one of Marvel's best animated shows to grace TV screens in the past decade. Both DVD volumes introduces younger viewers to the Marvel's mightiest heroes and will significantly appeal to older Marvel fans as well.
