These action figures came at a time when Sideshow Collectibles (then known as Sideshow Toys) was beginning to expand its business model beyond in-house produced product and into the realm of distribution. It's a plan that succeeded, with Sideshow now the exclusive North American distributor for oversea companies Hot Toys and Medicom (RAH line), not to mention the distributor for a host of American toy makers.

The Samurai Shodown 64 action figures weren't bad for the time, standing 6 inches tall and featuring nice sculpts of their video game counterparts. Articulation was restricted to basic cut joints, but they were extremely well-built toys, each cast in heavy duty plastics. I picked up the samurai sword-wielding Haohmaru, who still stands proudly with my other video game fighters, such as Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa and Mortal Kombat's Scorpion.
