#4 YAMATO USA'S SCI-FI FIGURE GALLERY STARSHIP TROOPERS/ FANTASY FIGURE GALLERY

Every so often a company comes around and puts together a dream lineup of amazing products based on a great license. That’s exactly what happened when Yamato USA put out a series of incredible Starship Troopers collectibles under its Sci-Fi Figure Gallery umbrella. The line consists of three military craft from the original 1997 film (two versions of the Rodger Young and a TAC Fighter) and a Marauder power armor suit from the third film. High-end collector’s items in every way, the Starship Troopers quartet feature heavy-duty construction in pewter and die-cast metal with superbly detailed sculpts. All four are incredible display pieces and not to be missed by sci-fi fans.

This year also saw a number of new additions to this on-going line of Fantasy Figure Gallery statues, including the gorgeous Golden Lover based on Julie Bell's artwork, the impressive Monica's Axe based on Boris Vallejo's artwork and both Black Tinkerbell and A Touch of Ice based on the Luis Royo's artwork. Likewise, a number of variant versions of previously released statues also made their way to the marketplace, including a recolored white version of Luis Royo's Medusa's Gaze, a fan favorite. While not for everyone, fantasy fans looking for reasonably priced and highly-detailed statues appreciate the manufacturing of these 7 - 12" plastic statues. Compared to their polystone counterparts, these are both lighter in weight and lighter on the wallet.

    #3 HOT TOYS MARS ATTACKS!

One of the biggest surprises of 2010 was Hot Toys' release of 1:6th scale action figures from Mars Attacks! With only a small handful of toys to show for the film's brilliant retro sci-fi visuals (Trendmasters, 1996), the new Hot Toys collectibles came as a very welcome treat. Starring bendy bodies, slick bubble helmets and beautiful brainy head sculpts, the Martian Soldier and Ambassador wowed us with their cool alien charm. What was truly remarkable was the ability to reposition their eyeballs for a more diverse display; a feature previously only seen on Hot Toys' more expensive deluxe figures. Hats off to Hot Toys for finally giving Mars Attacks! the action figure treatment it so rightfully deserves. Ack! Ack! Ack!

    #2 NECA'S PREDATORS

This year NECA continued to impress with their highly detailed and well articulated new Predators action figures. Two assortments have been released so far consisting of masked and unmasked versions of the classic hunter and new beefed-up Berserker, along with masked versions of the Falconer and Tracker. NECA has done an amazing job in recreating the new film’s Predators in three-dimensional action figure form. Each hyper detailed figure features a ton of articulated joints allowing collectors to display them in numerous dynamic poses. Whether you’re a softy for the design of the classic Predator or the new super-sized breed from the film, these great figures will make a great addition to your toy collection.

#1 HASBRO STAR WARS IMPERIAL AT-AT

Following the heels of last year’s Big Millenium Falcon from Star Wars, Hasbro went back to the drawing board on the iconic Imperial All-Terrain-Armored-Transport and delivered a new fan favorite right in time for the film’s 30th anniversary. This redesigned vehicle is larger, sleeker, more film accurate, and filled to the brim with so many bells and whistles that it would make any 40 year old turn into a 4 year old.

This AT-AT comes with an AT-AT Driver, pop-out Speeder-Bike, lights, sounds, and holds up to 20 figures! To sweeten the deal even further, Hasbro gave Toys’R’Us stores an exclusive vintage packaging just for fun. Star Wars toys has never looked or sounded better and this is why it earns a top spot on our list.
