As serious Gearheads know by now, Gears of War 3 has been pushed back from its originally slated Spring release date to a new Fall 2011 debut. The decision was made by Microsoft to delay the game in order for it to become "the biggest entertainment launch of 2011." Because of this change in schedule, NECA will now be releasing their new Gears of War 3 action figures around the same time as the video game's new launch: this Fall. A solid line up has not yet been decided on, but fans can expect figures of Marcus Fenix, Dom Santiago and other new COG soldiers as announced with our San Diego Comic-Con coverage HERE.

Skorge battles new GOW3 Marcus. Both are Prototype Test Shots, thus their unusual colors.

To fill the void, NECA will be releasing new Gears of War 2 action figures early 2011. The confirmed characters include Kantus, Skorge and Mauler Boomer. All have been shown in early prototype form in the past (see our image gallery below), but new images of the Kantus and Skorge "Test Shots" (closer to production prototype figures used to test articulation, detail, etc) have been posted via NECA on Twitter (see above). A solid Gears of War 2 figure line up will be announced as their release date approaches. This is great news for Gearheads, as not only do we get new GOW3 toys, but anticipated unreleased GOW2 toys too!

This is great news!! Been waiting for Kantus & Skorge for long time now... Fans might lose interest if they delay it any longer

Aw man, I've been waiting for that Boomer for so long now. Oh well, at least they're not cancelled or anything.
