SDCC10 Exclusive Transformers Mighty Mugg PROWL

Designer toy line lives on with new G1 Autobot ...

San Diego Comic-Con coverage brought to you by Collectibles Insurance, Big Bad Toy Store, Sekaido, and Monkey Depot.

Mighty Muggs, the line of licensed characters made by 100% recycled awesome is still chugging along although it appears it might be on serious life support. The G.I. Joe and Indiana Jones line of Mighty Muggs have long been cancelled and there hasn't been too much else on the shelves either. The Hasbro booth did reveal a new line of smaller Star Wars Mighty Muggs so there might be more potential for the brand still.

Prowl, the Generation 1 Autobot police car was this year's San Diego Comic-Con exclusive selling at the Hasbro booth for $17 ($15.99 + tax). Last year's glossy repaint of Optimus Prime at least boasted some exclusive packaging. Prowl unfortunately does not, making it appear as if he was already made for an unreleased wave and shipped out to San Diego at the last minute. And for the record, Prowl marks the 13th Transformers Mighty Mugg released.

If you couldn't tell already, these vinyl-plastic mega-deformed creations are super cute, highly collectible, and silly fun. I couldn't help but pick up a few of my favorite characters here and there and Prowl just happens to be one of my favorite Autobots from the classic Transformers cartoon. All Muggs are essentially the same mold and sculpt with small variations depending on the character. Certain Muggs have ears/horns, some have shorter legs, and others have wings. Since Prowl is a character with his doors on his back, he gets to have that added feature.

Paint is great. No complaints. What more could you really ask for in a hyper-stylized toy?

All Mighty Muggs have 3 points of articulation: neck (1), arms (2). The legs don't move. But even if they did, it really wouldn't serve any purpose or added play value. These toys are just made to be enjoyed on a visual level.

Prowl comes equipped with his trusty blaster which he can grip in his hand easily.

For those who missed out on attending Comic-Con or never got around to waiting in line, Prowl is still available on hasbrotoyshop.com for $15.99. If you want to see more Mighty Muggs, you gotta keep buying them!
