    SDCC10: Cult Classics Horror Icons

    Jason Voorhees, possessed Regan, more...

San Diego Comic-Con coverage brought to you by Collectibles Insurance, Big Bad Toy Store, Sekaido, and Monkey Depot.

Horror is alive and well at NECA, as evident by their fall release schedule. Topping the list is the anticipated Exorcist box set featuring a possessed Regan. The bed on which Regan rests measures over 7" long, almost 6" across and over 5" tall. Regan herself is articulated at the neck, shoulders, and forearms and features a motorized action that allows her head to rotate 360 degrees timed in sync with the actual movie scene. The set will also play The Exorcist theme music. Look for it this October priced around $35. CLICK HERE for more images of The Exorcist box set.

A surprise reveal at Comic-Con was the return of Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees. NECA will be releasing the hockey masked killer from the newest film as a 7-inch scale action figure with removeable mask. This is a retooled figure and not their previous 18" scale Jason sized down. Look for Jason this October. For more images of the Jason Voorhees figure, CLICK HERE.

In other horror action figure news, a new wave of Cult Classics Icons will see release this fall. The assortment will bring back Medieval Ash from Army of Darkness, Jail Cell Hannibal Lecter (white jumpsuit), Donnie Darko's Frank the Bunny and the original Halloween's Michael Myers. NECA also announced at Comic-Con that the Ghostface killer from the Scream movies will be made. The figure may not be movie specific, but rather based more on his iconic look in the slasher series.

News for Freddy fans is that NECA's Freddy Krueger puppet-marionette shown back at Toy Fair is still on the way. NECA is just refining the collectible making sure it comes out as accurate as possible for horror collectors.

Thank goodness there's at least one company on this planet still making Horror action figures (even if I've seen enough of Freddy, Jason and Michael Myers figs to last me 20 lifetimes!)

What would I like to see in this line? Christopher Lee as Dracula, any Vincent Price horror role, Tombs of the Blind Dead zombies, Rawhead Rex, the rest of the as-yet-unmade-in-figure-form Cenobites (Engineer please!), Oliver Reed Curse of the Werewolf werewolf, Underworld figs, Tremors Graboid, Critters, Leprechaun, the Ringu lady -- I could go on and on.

There's just so much more out there to choose from than Freddy and Jason and Myers over and over and over...
