Weta announces that they will play an important role in bringing to life Mad Max: Fury Road, the long-awaited continuation of the Mad Max series, the last installment of which, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, premiered 25 years ago.
As with previous Mad Max movies, George Miller is the director and Weta will be working with him on conceptual design, Specialty Make-Up FX, Costume and Dummies. The movie is currently scheduled for a 2012 release. Recent word has it that the movie will be a reboot and will star actor Tom Hardy as Max.
