The overnight success of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers has spawned numerous spin-offs, toys, merchandise, movies, and of course, its own convention. Hey, if Star Trek, Star Wars, G.I.Joe, and Transformers can have one, why not a show that has been around for the past seventeen years? The POWER MORPHICON, now in its second year was held in Pasadena, CA August 27-29 celebrating with fans from around the globe.
Though it was sponsored by Bandai, the master of the Power Ranger toy license, there was actually not a huge toy presence at the convention which I hope they fix for next year. No upcoming toys were on display but there was a great set-up of the history of Power Ranger toys from 1993-2010.
There was so much to see and do for the Power Ranger fan that I'm sure this convention will keep getting bigger and better each year. There were panels, autograph signings, merchandise, costume and trivia contests, meet & greets... it was exactly what one could want from the Official Power Rangers convention. If you missed this year, scratch it on your calendar for the next. Visit www.officialpowermorphicon.com for more information.

Great to hear that PR fandom is getting organized with its own cons.
Now come on Bandai, we want 7" scale figures of the incredible roster of Power Rangers villains starting with Rita Repulsa, Dark Specter (make him HU~GE!), Queen Bansheera, Astronema, Diabolico, Triskull, Darkonda and so many more.
There's just so much potential for cool figures (and good money-making) going completely to waste!
