Merely a year after Todd McFarlane introduced collectors to Spawn action figures, his company branched out to feature other independent comics in toy form, namely Rob Liefeld's Youngblood and Whilce Portacio's Wetworks.
Neither property caught fire like McFarlane's immortal Al Simmons, though Wetworks was popular enough to warrant a second series of figures. The ninja-like Grail introduced me to this line as part of a McFarlane figure pack presented to me as a gift. I always meant to hunt down a few other characters, such as the unusual creature named Vampire and heavy weapons-toting Dozer, but never did get around to it. There were just too many cool Spawn figures coming out at the time; totally overshadowing the older Wetworks releases in style and good looks.
Re: McFarlane Toys' WETWORKS
Funny story. I've had that Vampire figure forever, but I long ago forgot what toy line it was from or where I got it. When I recently moved it got added to the "give away" box and found a new home with my friend's five year old son Oliver (pictured in the Ben 10 Ultimatrix review). He likes it!
Re: McFarlane Toys' WETWORKS
That's awesome! Glad he found a good home:) I've seen him numerous times now at toy conventions and always passed him up. Just not as cool in person all these years later. There was something magical about studying those old card back pics...

Re: McFarlane Toys' WETWORKS
I did notice that:) My eyes perk right up when I see toys in films:) GREAT movie too.
Re: McFarlane Toys' WETWORKS
I still love this toy line - I have all of the figures and still play with them from time to time. This was right when I was getting back into collecting toys seriously and the second wave of Wetworks figures includes one of my favorite figures to this day: Assassin One. Still love the figure's design.
Oh, and if you haven't picked up Wetworks lately, it's pretty crazy - Mutations was a riot following the end of the Wildstorm world and all...
