At Figures.com we’re big fans of Mimoco’s Mimobot USB flash drives with its cool collection of characters from DC Comics, Transformers, Star Wars, Hello Kitty, G.I. Joe, video games, and more. The best news for comic book fans is that Mimoco continues to roll out more great DC characters. First came multiple drive sets centered around Batman and Green Lantern (see our reviews HERE and HERE), and now they’ve expanded to a more global “DC Universe.” We’ve already taken a look at the new Flash and Dark Knight Rises Batman (check that out HERE). Today we’ll be looking at the all-new Superman Mimobot and the Batman Mimomicro from the new line of USB card readers!

MIMOBOTS surround high quality USB drives with a firm plastic shell in the general shape of a tall-headed humanoid. At about 2.5 inches tall and 1 inch wide, they’re the perfect size for travel and use, while at the same time being fun collectibles. The beauty of the Mimobot is its simplicity, and the “sculpt” is limited to the general soft body shape, stumpy arms, and optional head decorations (some even have hairpieces that fit over the main body). Pop off the top of a Mimobot’s head to reveal the USB port (utilizing high speed USB 2.0 and fully Mac/PC compatible), and secure it again with a solid snap. The Superman Mimobot is available in your choice of capacities: 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. Mimoco even goes a step further by offering exclusive pre-loaded “Mimory” including fun wallpapers, icons, and more. For those of you who take a lot of pictures and use different media you’re probably used to messing around with SD cards and clunky readers. Well, Mimoco makes transferring those files easy and fun with their new Mimomicros! 1 inch figures like Batman accept microSD cards (including SDHC and SDXC) and have flip-out USB 2.0 ports that’ll work in any computer.

All DC Mimobots come packaged in the same style box, tall and narrow with an open window to see the drive. Superman’s DC Universe box is bright blue with white lettering. The series logo appears at the top, while next to the Mimobot cut out is a starburst pattern that draws in the eye. All of the pertinent info is down at the bottom, while a sticker at the right tells you the storage capacity. The back of the box shows off some other Mimobots on the market with a note at the top to “Collect Them All!” The insert behind Superman has a collage of pages from Clark Kent’s Daily Planet newspaper, and if you unfold it you’ll find a fun image of him with the Flash! Mimomicros, on the other hand, come packaged in a slick figure-eight clamshell that displays the reader in a little bubble at the center. The paper insert is a bright red with white lettering and another Mimoco sunburst behind the figure. The backside explains how the innovative little device works (with diagrams) and shows off the other Mimomicros. You can also see the reader’s keychain for easy transportation.

While the “New 52” Superman appearing in comics right now has a new fangled costume, the Mimobot Man of Steel is classic all the way down to the red trunks! As everyone knows, baby Kal-El was evacuated in a small rocket when his home planet of Krypton was destroyed. Good-natured Jonathan and Martha Kent found the crash-landed craft and raised the boy, whom they named Clark, to be an upstanding citizen concerned with truth, justice, and the American way. With Kryptonian abilities enhanced by our yellow sun Superman fights crime and super villains, his bold blue, red, and yellow costume representing the best in all of us. The Mimobot recreates look of Superman and his iconic outfit with the “S” shield on both chest and cape, yellow belt, blue eyes, and spit curl.

Mimobots are cute... but Mimomicros are downright adorable, even Batman! The tiny Bruce Wayne is chubby and squat with a large, blocky head (complete with ear tips). All of the necessary details are there like Batman’s iconic gray and black costume, the bat-symbol, utility belt, and cape. There’s even a tiny batarang stuck in his belt! Wayne’s expression is suitably dour with a scowl and furrowed brow under his cowl.

Like all Mimomicros, Batman has a hole through his left arm for you to string through the included keychain and carry him with you. Turn the Dark Knight around to see the flip-out USB reader emblazoned with a Mimoco “M” that lights up when it’s in use. And when you do reveal the reader you’ll also some fun added details: “mimo micro” on the reverse and the Mimoco circuit logo with heart inside of Batman.

Once you’re done playing with your Mimobots you can also plug them into your computer! And when you do, you get not only high quality USB drives, but also fun “Mimory” components that let you customize your computer with exclusive DC Universe content. The Superman drive comes with content broken down into three categories. Avatars give you images to represent you online (Flash, Superman, and their logos for DC Universe). Icons presents you with images including character art, mini Mimobots, logos, and more that you can use to decorate your drives and folders. Finally, the Wallpapers folder has plenty of silly and fun images of the Mimobots in action in sizes designed for mobile devices, iPads, and all shapes and sizes of computer screens!

Mimobots are great, and Mimoco has even come up with the perfect combination of making them portable and even cuter, the Spacesuit protoHoodie! Available in black or white, the Hoodies enclose your characters in soft fabric while providing a clear vinyl window so you can see their faces. They zip up in the back to hold Mimobots securely and have a clip for attaching to your keychain, backpack, or anything else!

The DC Universe Superman Mimobot is now available now in 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64 GB (along with fellow Flash release) on Mimoco.com. The Batman Mimomicro is unfortunately currently out of stock, but keep checking; his fellow minis Superman and Wonder Woman have already come back in stock after being sold out of their initial run.
