If you're a fan of Wallace & Gromit, the loveable dog and owner duo from across the pond, you may want to check out this unique 6-part series in which the pair examine wacky, crazy, odd, weird, and all around incredible inventions from all over the globe.

Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention is a 6-part series which focuses on the incredible, inventive, engaging, overlooked, and awesome inventions which have been made throughout modern history. Episodes including "Nature Knows Best," in which inventions inspired by nature are explored; "Reach for the Sky," in which man's fascination with flight and flying machines are examined; "Home Sweet Home," in which viewers take a look at inventions for the home; "Come to Your Senses," which looks at sensory inventions like an invisibility cloak and bomb-detecting bees; "Better Safe than Sorry," in which safety is examined; and finally "Getting from A to B," which explores amazing modes of transportation.

The 6-part series is impressive not only for fans of Wallace & Gromit, who will immediately enjoy the pair's hosting abilities and humor, but also fans of unique and interesting invention; that is - after all - the main focus of the series. Some highlights from the series includes "Getting from A to B," which investigates unique transportation methods, including a mini-sub and other "unusual" modes of movement. Likewise, the electric motor is examined, something I'm sure everyone is interested in considering the recent rise in gasoline prices!

Other highlights include the "Come to Your Senses" episode, which explores an invisibility cloak made of unique materials which allows light to bend around objects, an invention that may allow the blind to see using their sense of taste, and bees which are being used to detect bombs!

Throughout the series, various short segments provide insight into unique creations and creators who have either gone on to incredible fame or been ignored because they were ahead of their time! Who'd have thought an inventor over 120 years ago would know we would all be speaking on wireless phones someday?!? Or who would have ever considered using air pressure to power a train down the track...in the late 1840s!?! Both of these and more - including a robot maid for your home (one of my favorites!) - are explored in this fun series that's both entertaining and educational!

Overall, the series is engaging for both children and adults alike - especially if you don't mind some funny hosts chatting up a very serious and interesting topic! All of the above and more are just some of the impressive ideas and incredible inventions which are explored in the cool, engaging, and fun series Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention.

Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention is available now on blu-ray and DVD wherever fine home video is sold.
