    WizKids' SHADOWRUN DUELS (2003)

After finding success in miniature gaming, WizKids shocked collectors with a radical new concept: action figure gaming. Based on Shadowrun, the classic sci-fi/fantasy RPG from the late 1980's, Shadowrun Duels featured approx. 6" figures with clever turn-dial combat bases that also served as storage units for the character's accessories. Sculpted by Plan-B Toys, the figures were quite impressive, starring a broad selection of unique characters and weapons. Unfortunately, Shadowrun Duels never took off, ending after just two waves (12 figures). Gamers found the toys expensive as game pieces, even though they were reasonably priced as action figures.

    Re: WizKids' SHADOWRUN DUELS

I love these guys! I've been a fan of Shadowrun (the RPG and novels) for a loooong time, and I thought this Duel game was a very interesting twist. I'll admit I don't think I ever actually played the game, but the figures had great sculpts and looked really unique. I think I have everyone from the first series except the Deacon but just one or two from series 2. Every once in a while they'll pop up in sales, making it a no brainer to grab them.

Woah, I bought everyone of these guys even the Toyfare exclusive which the Wizkid novels were based on. I've loved shadowrun ever since the genesis game came out and finding out it was a pen and paper rpg was great. I always wished this had gone further. It played basically like Mage Knight and Heroclix. OH well. Lothan the wise is one of the heaviest figures I owned before Kilowog came out in the early green lantern dc direct set.
