Sideshow's Marvel statue line continues to grow with their latest addition: the Sabretooth Premium Format Figure. Logan and his evil brother Victor Creed have been in a war against each other spanning decades. Thanks to the Sideshow's creative team, collectors will be able to display both ¼ scale mutants in the heat of battle or separately.

PACKAGING: The latest Marvel Premium Format Figure is housed within a decorative and eye-catching package which features several images of the statue and a new "Marvel MAX" package design. The new package design is reminiscent of that of an action figure or trading card. The sides of the box feature a dynamic character bio and statistics with comic book artwork. The overall look of the package box is very unique and significantly enhances the collectability of this particular piece.

SCULPT: Sideshow has captured Sabretooth's menacing look exquisitely in three-dimensional form with this ¼ scale piece. Sabreooth is represented in a dynamic pose ready to strike anyone that gets in his way. The sculpted hair and facial details on the head are simply breathtaking. Each strand of hair on the head, face and shoulders is individually carved out giving the piece an impressively realistic look. The forearm portions of both arms are extremely well detailed and the veins and wrinkles of the gloves stand out significantly on the piece. The furry portion of Sabretooth's costume is sculpted with a high level of precision and the razor sharp claws on both hands are sculpted equally well and enhance the overall look of this incredibly detailed piece.

The majority of Sabretooth's body is covered by his fabric costume but the anatomical aspects of his body are represented very well underneath. The statue also includes an environmental display base that resembles a forest environment. The base depicts a rocky formation with red and orange leaves scattered around it. An animal skull sits on top of the stone base giving the impression of remains from one of Sabretooth’s previous victims. The base is beautifully detailed and looks very realistic which significantly enhances the already impressive ¼ scale figure.

PAINT: Sideshow has done a fantastic job with the paint application on this piece. Although the painted parts on this figure are minimal, the creative team has done an incredible job accenting the details on Sabretooth's face and arms. The most evident details are found on the face which looks incredibly well done. The hair details are represented in multiple color tones which add depth and realism to the piece. The environment base is realistically detailed and features a substantial level of dry-brush details that result in a realistic stone look.

COSTUME/ ACCESSORIES: Sabretooth's fabric costume is accurately tailored around the figure’s hulking physique. The fabric outfit is fabricated very well and creates a vivid contrast on the piece due to the clashing textures of the fabric and polystone. The statue is comprised of four individual parts (base, body, head and arms). The head and arms attach to the body magnetically and the body attaches to the base via two metal rods that hold it in place.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Unfortunately I was unable to pick up the Wolverine Premium Format Figure before it sold out, but I am extremely fortunate to add this piece to my collection. With its highly detailed sculpt impressive paint job and towering height; this statue easily outshines other companies' static interpretations of the evil mutant. This is truly one of the most amazing ¼ scale Marvel pieces from Sideshow this year and with the lack of ¼ scale villains in the line, adding this menacing mutant foe to your collection should be a no-brainer.

The Sabretooth premium format figure is available now at Sideshow's website while supplies last. The statue is currently available in both the Standard Edition and Exclusive Version (with alternate head). A FLEXPay option is available on both versions if you are tight on cash. Whatever option you decide to choose, do it now before this awesome piece is gone for good.
