With the recent theatrical release of Marvel's Iron Man 2 the market has been flooded with licensed collectibles of all shapes and sizes of the armored superhero. However, only a select few shine high above the rest. The new Kotobukiya ARTFX Iron Man Mark IV statue is one of those high quality collectibles that easily outweighs the competition.

PACKAGING: The new ARTFX statue is housed within a vibrant and colorful cardboard box. The packaging art includes the official Iron Man 2 movie logo along with several high-res images of the Mark IV statue.

One particular detail that stands out on the box art is the embossed Avengers logo on the top flap. The box art and overall look of this great collectible is visually impressive and stands out easily next to other packaged collectibles.

SCULPT: The detail and craftsmanship on the 1:6 scale Mark IV PVC statue is clearly evident at first glance. The updated mech suit is rendered precisely in three-dimensional form and looks very realistic. The statue comes unassembled and consists of 5 separate pieces which snap snuggly together with ease. The statue requires a screwdriver and very minimal assembly.

The Mark IV has a cleverly concealed ON/OFF switch on the left side of the back which is covered by a removable panel. The light-up base is beautifully rendered and enhances the overall look of the statue when fully assembled and lit. The base features its own separate power switch which allows you to display the statue in 1 out of 3 ways: lit base and statue, lit statue only, lit base only. The 3-way light-up feature is an excellent addition and goes a long way in creating some cool ambiance to your display.

PAINT: The fine folks at Kotobukiya have done an amazing job with the paint application on this piece by making the PVC statue look like it were real metal. The statue is decorated with a high level of precision and feature little to no paint imperfections. The overall look and finish of the metallic exterior on the piece is incredibly movie-accurate and visually stunning.

OVERALL: This new Mark IV statue from Kotobukiya's ARTFX brand has a lot to offer for collectors. The PVC snap-kit statue is both vibrant and elegant and would look great on anyone's curio cabinet, shelf or even desktop. At an average price point of just under $130, this excellent statue will not set you back as much as other Iron Man 2 high-end pieces which generally average over $200. Whether you are a Marvel fan or just like movie-based collectibles in general, adding this high quality light-up statue to your collection is a no-brainer.
