Aside from improved game AI and improved character creation, the expansion pleased players with cool new characters designed by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane. Seeing that he helped design it, action figures from McFarlane Toys were inevitable. The series was first previewed at Toy Fair 2002 with a show exclusive pewter repaint of Lord Blackthorn himself, and later with a line of six figures.
