Back before I even knew who/what Spawn was, a friend of mine gave me this figure box set featuring five figures from this series (file cards below). I was amazed. Here were highly articulated and detailed (for the time) action figures of original, cool-looking human characters and twisted creatures. These figures renewed my interest in toy collecting, something I had mostly given up on since the mid-'80s. While the sculpting for Spawn toys got better and better as the years went by, some of the best design ideas can be found in these early waves.
