ELYSIUM - Official Trailer and Movie Poster

Neill Blomkamp's New Sci-Fi Film In Theaters August 9th...

San Diego Comic-Con 2012 gave us our first taste of ELYSIUM (see HERE), the latest sci-fi romp from Neill Blomkamp, director of 2009's surprise hit District 9. SONY Pictures now provides fans with a look at the official movie poster, as well as the first official trailer. The movie, now scheduled for release August 9th, stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, among others.

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist. The first are the very wealthy "Coordinators," people who can afford bio-genetic engineering, live on Elysium (pristine man-made space station built by the Armadyne Corporation). The rest live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes, a hard government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky ex-con Max is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
