You are overlooking the other possible scenario: that the makers of the new Carrie movie contracted and paid NECA to have the action figures made. Such was the case with the Dante figure from Dante's Inferno that was exclusive to the game bundle. NECA got that money up front as opposed to relying on retail sales. You'd be a fool to pass up an opportunity like that. Not saying that's the case here, could be that NECA feels this movie will appeal to people. I honestly do not know and agree that it is an odd license to be picking up for figures.

I will never understand why NECA keeps pursing these random licenses that have a minority (if any) following.
Practically every comic shop and TRU here in NY/NJ is still flooded with lame things like Hunger Games and Iggy pop figures. Between this nonsense and Django Unchanged, it seems NECA is purposefully trying to go under. They need to focus on licenses that appeal to children's imagination as well as the adult collector.
It's a shame because they make some truly detailed figures, I'd hate to lose them as a producer.
