It’s been a really slow time for [B]Star Wars[/B] toys in 2013 but if you live near a Disney theme park, Hasbro has two sets of exclusives that arrived just in time for Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  While this event is only in Florida, both coasts benefit from the additional onslaught of merchandise.  The two new sets, well, I should use the term “new” loosely as they’re mostly repaints or reissues with only one new figure in each set.  But for completists and fans of the Star Tours attraction, this will be a necessary purchase.

The two sets: [B]SECTOR 2 SECURITY[/B] and [B]SEARCH FOR THE REBEL SPY[/B] are now available for $34.95 each (Disneyland’s price, could be higher in Florida) and each contains three figures.

Star Tours: Sector 2 Security comes with a new [B]G2 Droid[/B], re-issue [B]C-3PO[/B], and a repainted [B]RX Droid[/B].  There are two G2 Droids found in the queue, one scanning luggage and the other, voiced by Patrick Warburton, scanning passengers.

The red and white RX Droid is the same kind of droid as Rex, the original pilot in the original version of Star Tours.  Here at Disneyland he’s sitting in the queue ready to be crated off somewhere.

The only unfortunate figure addition in this set is C-3PO, which is identical to the version sold two years ago in a previous Star Tours figure pack.  The only difference is that this 3PO has more of a gold tint so it is an improvement but an unnecessary one.

G2 Droid is a brand new sculpt and features eight points of articulation: neck, arms, legs, and heels.  C-3PO has ten points of articulation which means he’s standard issue above the waist, and has thigh and knee joints like the previous figure.  The RX Droid has eight points of articulation for his three arms, neck, visor, and the rest are in the rotating sections within his torso.  A suitcase accessory that does open is also included.

If the previous set was the good guys, [B]Star Tours: Search for the Rebel Spy[/B] is leaning towards the bad guys.  Appearing once again is the Imperial Sky Trooper, a stormtrooper with a jet pack essentially that assists Darth Vader in that particular opening of the ride.  The good thing about it is that there are four Imperial Sky Troopers in that scene so this set is supporting that troop building mentality.  Two Imperial Sky Troopers have already been released prior so this set will make it three.

The new figure in the Rebel Spy set is the [B]Seeker Droid[/B]. Created just for this ride, its mission is to find the rebel spy (obviously) that are aboard the Starspeeder 1000.  You won’t see this guy in the Darth Vader opening but he is prominently seen in the Stormtrooper opening.

And the last figure in this set isn’t a bad guy at all, but part of the Star Tours company.  As a [B]Signal Droid[/B], he helps guide the Starspeeder during take off and landing.  You can find this particular blue Signal Droid when landing on Coruscant. The Signal Droid is identical to the previously released Signal Droid aside from the paint and has six points of articulation all in the arms.  He also comes with a clear stand and a piece of luggage that [I]CAN[/I] be opened!  The Seeker Droid comes with a clear stand and six appendages that can be rotated if need be.

The last figure in the set is the [B]Imperial Sky Trooper[/B] which is identical to his brothers in the previous set. and has twenty two points of articulation.  Imperial Sky Trooper comes with a reomovable jet pack and two weapons.

In the end, these two sets contain some well needed figures and recolors so I’m thrilled to pick them up.  The only figure I’d prefer not be in here is C-3PO as he can be found in the previous Star Tours sets that are still quite plentiful.   Speaking of plentiful, these sets will also be completely stocked if your trip isn’t scheduled until later in the year.
