    I agree about the bevy of Freddy figures, but NECA only just acquired the license to a bunch of old Mezco properties, so they're bound to flood the market to fill the gap Mezco left for the last couple years. And remember, horror fanatics (like most fanatics) are 100 percent batshit crazy and buy up several iterations of the same character.

    I'm not a big slasher fan, so I'll probably pass on most of them, but I could stand to use one really good Freddy figure. Mezco's were always either too stylized or impossible expensive once they fell out of the big stores. While I'd also love to see some more obscure movies, I think Jeff's right on this one. Only time and retail support for manufacturers is going to yield the kind of freedom necessary to take a risk on a product like Reign of Fire.

    That being said, I still want a Dutch from predator, I'd take either of the main dudes from Reign of Fire because (suck it, Terrence Malick fans) that movies rocks, and for f***'s sake can a brother get some Fifth Element love? I NEED a Korben Dallas figure. I f***in' NEED it.

    @Jeff
    The poison of capitalism is seen everywere from toys to the consistent trend in remakes and PG13 rated moves. However I just find it frustrating that fans continue to support this nonsense. NECA is (IMO) the best action figure company available right now, and I understand they cater to a niche market, but fans should stop buying recasts and redeco's of things that all ready are. Maybe then, NECA and other business that are in this field will change their model. Mattel is a good example with the MOTU line, which is sold exclusively on the web and based off fan recommendations.
    LOL I know my posts come across as a hot-pocket eating geek, but I love this hobby and don't want it to fizzle out due to lack of interest. If things don't change, we will be inundated with nothing but Freddy, Micheal, Jason, Batman and Spiderman figures for the rest of our lives....

    I feel your frustration, however it is not all the toy companies fault, but rather the market today. The days of "anything goes" in the toy world (think mid-2000s) have gone for awhile due to the poor economic climate - retailers (and toy companies) are playing it safe with licensed, sure-fire brands that will sell. Freddy Krueger is very well known and consistantly sells. Having multiple Freddys also saves on production costs - allowing the company to reuse body parts on multiple versions, all the while pleasing the die-hard fans.

    Some fans want variety in licensing - such as the movies you named (Reign of Fire, Dradon Slayer, etc), but let's look at it realistically: How many folks know these properties and will buy them? Kids? Parents? They are extremely niche movies (unlike Star Wars, GI Joe, Freddy, etc) and will not sell the thousands of figures needed to break even with the costs of new tooling, etc (which people don't realize, cost at least double digit thousands). The hard reality is they would not sell and the company making them would face a huge loss. Combine that with the fact that many retailers - especially mass market like Walmart, Target, and TRU - wouldn't even buy them to sell - too much of a risk on their part in which they would lose money as well. At the end of the day, toys are ultimately a business. There's way more to it than making something just because it's cool (though I do happen to think the new Freddy figures are cool.

    How many Freddy Krueger's does one need?! Why is it lately, toy companies keep reproducing the same crap over and over and over again. Give us something else all ready!

    Ideas:
    Reign of Fire - Bull Dragon deluxe figure
    Aliens - Dog alien, Res Alien, 18" Cameron alien, Queen
    Godzilla - Stylized versions
    Dragon Slayer - Vermithrax
    Dinosaurs

    Get the point? Enough with the man men toys. Give us things that feed the imagination!

    * Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy with outstretched arms, regular arms, removable hat and interchangeable heads (classic and skinned face with exposed skull)

    * Freddy's Revenge Freddy with bladed finger nails, removable hat and interchangeable heads (regular and screaming face)

    * Dream Warriors Freddy with ripped sweater revealing Freddy's visctims and Elm Street house accesory

    Pictured are new images showing off in great detail the dream house accessory (pictured above - will measure 2" across, 1.5" high) for Dream Warrior's Freddy and alternate "brain" head for Freddy's Revenge Freddy (below).
