Disney Exclusive STAR WARS PVC Collectible Figures

A great starter set for new Star Wars collectors...

At the Disney theme parks, merchandise has become key but sometimes quality takes a major hit. Especially with Star Wars figures where Hasbro certainly has the market conquered, that leaves PVCs wide open. Why compete when you can make a box set of figurines at a lower cost? And that's just what Disney did. They already have a line of collectible figure sets based on their other hit animated hits but here is a set for Star Wars. Indiana Jones recently received its PVC box set treatment but really unsure if I'll go for it.

There are eight figures packed in this set, all about 3" and sold at the theme parks for $16.95. That's about $4 more than the non-licensed PVC sets but if you break down the cost... you're paying maybe $2 per figure here which is actually a pretty great deal if you're satisfying the lowest age group possible.

In this set are Original Trilogy versions of:

    -Darth Vader
    -Stormtrooper
    -Boba Fett
    -Yoda
    -Chewbacca
    -C-3PO
    -R2-D2
    -Wicket

Left: PVC Figures, Right: Hasbro Action Figures

These figures may or may not be sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios and to be honest, they really don't look half bad for the price we're paying. Wicket is a great sculpt as is Yoda. You can see the side-by side comparisons and there are major differences between the action figures and these figurines. Paint is also decent but there was one issue with Chewbacca not being able to stand on his own. That's just my own dumb luck so you may have a better version.

Normally I would shun these kind of figure sets without further delay but after playing around with them, there are some neat toys here. They're especially great for the little ones that need something inexpensive to play with. Until they're old enough to play with the articulated versions, these should do the trick nicely.
