    Skylanders Giants Toy License Acquired

New toys and puzzles inspired by the upcoming video game...

Mega Brands has announced multi-year global licensing partnership with Activision Blizzard subsidiary, Activision Publishing, to develop toys and puzzles inspired by the upcoming Skylanders Giants video game (read our story about the new game HERE).

Skylanders Giants is the sequel to the number one ranked new kids video game IP of 2011, Skylanders Spyro's Adventure. The Skylanders Spyro's Adventure video game franchise was the first video game ever to successfully merge physical toys and the virtual game world across many leading video game consoles.

The partnership will allow kids and collectors the ability to build and rebuild the characters and magical worlds from Skylanders Giants. The video game and toys are scheduled for release this fall.

As someone who recently became a fan of Skylanders (it's really not that childish), I like the idea of kids being able to build environments from the game. However, I'm curious to see how the similar looking MEGA Bloks figures compete with the already highly collectible nature of the actual game figures. Will fans buy both?
