PHOTO REVIEW: Terminator Tech Noir T-800

If you've been collecting NECA's Terminator series from the beginning, waiting for figures from the first movie has been a long time coming. While I love T2 as much as the next person, the original Cameron classic - The Terminator - is the movie that sets my world on fire. The Terminator was very direct in its unique sci-fi depiction of an unstoppable killing machine sent from the future to assassinate someone in our present. No young John Connor. No goodie-two-shoes Arnold. Just raw and brutal non-stop action.

One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when Arnold busts into the Tech Noir nightclub to kill Sarah Connor. Freshly armed to the gills with a ".45 Longslide with laser sighting" and an "Uzi 9mm," the T-800 was ready to mow down anyone who stood in his way. He had a great appearance too, courtesy of the punk outfit that he acquired at the beginning of the film. NECA perfectly captures this iconic look with their latest 7-inch action figure: the Tech Noir T-800.

The Tech Noir T-800 is part of NECA's new Terminator Collection Series 1, which also includes a tweaked T-800 Endoskeleton and the Motorcycle Cop T-1000 from T2. He comes armed with the two aforementioned weapons, and while no alternative head is included this time around, the option is there to swap it with past or future releases. Articulation is mainly reserved for the figure's upper section, allowing you to strike many cool firing poses, whether it be with the .45 Longslide held out to put a bullet in Sarah Connor, or with the Uzi extended to spew lead... or both raised for some John Woo action (an interchangeable gun-firing left hand is included). The Tech Noir T-800 even features a real metal chain on his jacket - a very nice touch.

Needless to say, this figure is a must-buy if you're a Terminator fan, especially a fan of Arnold as the T-800. Bring on Series 2's Police Assault T-800 and my Terminator collection will be complete...
