While Weta may not have had any troll products in the booth, three life-sized versions guarded it! Check out the photo:

SDCC12: Weta Wows With Hobbit And More

High End Statues, Weapons, And A Troll Or Three...

To see all of the cool Weta items from Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, Adventures of Tintin, Dr. Grordbort, and more check out our SDCC gallery HERE.

Sharing a massive booth with Gentle Giant and The Bridge Direct, Weta stood out as one of the premiere photo ops in the entire San Diego Comic-Con exhibit hall with a massive trio of trolls from the Hobbit. Appropriately, the most visible display cases in that area were devoted to the company’s amazing products based on the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films, properties Weta is intimately familiar with as they actually create props, weapons, armor, and more for them! From LotR were everything from mini helms (Uruk-hai General’s) and shields (Rohirrim Royal Guard’s and Easterling) to environments (Bag End, Barad-Dur, Orthanc, Rivendell) and statues (Gandalf the Grey and the upcoming Strider and Fellowship three-part statue set). Hobbit got its due as well with a series of incredibly detailed 1/6 polystone “figures.” Led by an exclusive version of Thorin Oakenshield (with shield), this line also showed off Bilbo, Bombur, Gandalf, and even more dwarf companions! For those a bit more martially inclined, a whole wall of the booth held Weta’s amazing prop replica weapons from Lord of the Rings and Hobbit.

Moving from the fantastical to the steampunk, Dr. Grordbort was on hand with some of his Infallible Aether Oscillators, otherwise known as Weta’s cool line of classical sci-fi-inspired ray guns. A central display held the Manmelter, Pearce 75 Atom Ray Gun, Saboteur 66, books, and more. Finally, for the young and young at heart was a lineup of statues and busts from the Adventures of Tintin. A lifesize Captain Haddock drew people in to see the upcoming busts of Sakharine, Tintin & Snowy, and the Captain (all available for $89 preorder) and statues of Tintin & Snowy, Thompson & Thompson, and of course the Captain.
