Following four volumes and four DVD movies, the FUTURAMA Volume 5 2-Disc Set blasts into your living room on high-def Blu-ray and DVD. It’s impossible to fathom a series cancelled in 2003, chugging along with four direct-to-DVD movies, and springing back to life with a brand new season in 2010, thanks to the minds at Comedy Central.

Picking up right where "Into the Wild Green Yonder" ends are thirteen brand new episodes of Fry, Bender, Leela, and the rest of the gang of the Planet Express (If you’ve been dying to find out where that wormhole leads, you’ll want this set). If this season teaches us anything, it’s that life will find a way. And each episode is more poignant than the next, with topics that parody the iPhone, YouTube, and homosexual marriage (Robosexual marriage actually). It’s a reminder of why we love Futurama to begin with and it’s a heck of a lot better than the four movies.

Even though labeled as Volume 5, this is actually Season 6 of the award-winning program and includes these episodes:

    - REBIRTH
    - IN-A-GADDA-DA-LEELA
    - ATTACK OF THE KILLER APP
    - PROPOSITION INFINITY
    - THE DUH-VINCI CODE
    - LETHAL INSPECTION
    - THE LATE PHILIP J. FRY
    - THAT DARN KATZ!
    - A CLOCKWORK ORIGIN
    - THE PRISONER OF BENDA
    - LRRRECONCILABLE NDNDIFFERENCES
    - THE MUTANTS ARE REVOLTING
    - THE FUTURAMA HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR

Also included is full-length audio commentary for each episode including comments from executive producer David X. Cohen, creator Matt Groening, cast members and more. Also included is The Adventures of Delivery-Boy Man, an original video comic book scribbled and performed by Phillip J. Fry, "Bend it Like Bender" music video, behind-the-scenes footage, live table read, Previously on Futurama featurette, and deleted scenes.

Each episode is in 1.78:1 aspect ratio, which is perfect for the big screen. The animation is crisp, colors vibrant, and the show is as funny as I remember it. Sound isn’t ground breaking so no need to blast this. But blast you should, as this 13-episode set is a real treat. You need to add this to your collection.

Futurama Volume 5 on Blu-ray is in stores now wherever fine home video is sold.
