    New York Comic Con got off to an early start Wednesday night with a preview party hosted by Hasbro. Held a few blocks over from the Javits Center at the secluded Studio 450, the event was a casual affair inviting guests to peruse a small sampling of Hasbro's latest offerings. Hot on the list was Hasbro's recently announced Angry Birds Star Wars license (read our story HERE). A match made in Heaven, the three-way deal takes Rovio's hit mobile game to a galaxy far, far away, introducing popular locales such as the Death Star and Jabba's Palace with the Angry Bird characters all resembling Lucas' familiar cast, such as Vader, Stormtroopers and Han Solo. The toy line mimics the slingshot action of the video game and should strongly appeal to the younger crowd. I know my nephew is going to love them. The Angry Birds Star Wars toys are scheduled for an official launch this November, though I've heard reports of these being sold now at Toys"R"Us Times Square.

    Another recently announced property on display was GI Joe Kre-O (read our story HERE). Introduced last year with Hasbro's Transformers license, Kre-O is a building block toy line that impresses with adorable minifigures. GI Joe is a perfect match for the brand and a refreshing new direction for the timeless soldiers. On display were the first sets that will see release in spring 2013. These include:

    * KRE-O G.I. JOE NINJA TEMPLE BATTLE
    * KRE-O G.I. JOE BATTLE PLATFORM ATTACK
    * KRE-O G.I. JOE CHECKPOINT ALPHA
    * KRE-O G.I. JOE COBRA ARMORED ASSAULT
    * KRE-O G.I. JOE DRAGONFLY XH-1
    * KRE-O G.I. JOE SERPENT ARMOR STRIKE
    * KRE-O G.I. JOE THUNDERWAVE JET BOAT

    A single pack assortment of popular GI Joe characters such as Quick Kick, Rock N Roll and Crimson Guard will also be offered.

    Transformers had a single item on display, but it was a big one. Come spring 2013 will be Transformers Prime Beast Hunters. Think Beast Wars with the animated Prime aesthetic. Shown was a cool dragon action figure that will be featured on the series.

    Marvel was represented with three new Marvel Legends figures: Hope Phoenix, Black Panther, and my personal favorite, Hawkeye. As if you had any doubt, next year's anticipated Iron Man 3 will receive a toy line. Shown was a large "Arc Strike" Iron Man figure with cool light-up effects and a new assortment of Iron Man Micro Muggs. That's right, the Mighty Mugg continues to live on, although Hasbro keeps making them smaller and smaller. These were a cute 1-2 inches tall.

    While not the biggest reveals, Hasbro's New York Comic Con Preview Party was an entertaining event - with yummy refreshments, funny costume photo ops and a great parting gift bag leaving everyone who attended pleased.
