REVIEW: Mega Bloks WORLD OF WARCRAFT

Mega Bloks has yet another franchise for all your building desires: the massive franchise of World of Warcraft, or WoW for short. There’s a variety of sets based on this popular video game that are available right now at your retail outlets such as Target and Toys’R’Us. This particular set is one of the biggest ones and will run you about $100 approximately.

Deathwing’s Stormwind Assault comes with the following:

    -Stormwind - Castle
    -Deathwing - Dragon
    -Varian Wrynn – Human Warrior
    -Barton – Gnome Death Knight
    -Mythrin – Night Elf Priest
    -Alliance Catapult
    -Secret Loot

Coming in about 809 pieces all in separate bags, this can be a daunting task at the very beginning. Organizing all of the pieces into their own piles is a good afternoon right there. Building it can take an entire night or more, depending on how much wine you’re consuming and whether or not you have help!

Fortunately for us, Mega Bloks provide full color instruction booklets providing a list of all the pieces and all the steps to build both Deathwing and the Stormwind castle. Both require a very different type of mindset so be mindful. Building a castle is a walk in the park compared to the articulated eccentricities of a dragon.

Also a part of the castle are three statues (non-poseable) that snap into place in front of the castle. I do wish that these were built up of smaller pieces just for recreating a damaged castle would be that much more fun.

Deathwing is a really cool piece and a bit tricky to put together. He has several articulated joints but I do pine for a few more in the paws for more dynamic poses, but I should remind myself that these are building-toys and not action figures. Deathwing sports articulated wings, neck, head, jaw, and various limb and joints.

The three included figures are articulated as all other Mega Bloks figures are and they’re a lot of fun. Each come with their own weapon that can be stored on a peg that plugs into their back.

The last thing of note is the catapult that really works and a treasure full of booty. All in all, hours, nights, days full of fun are to be had with this World of Warcraft Mega Bloks set as well as many others currently available. Visit warcraft.megabloks.com for even more information on this officially Blizzard Entertainment licensed product!
