As a huge fan of McFarlane in their glory days I really hope that this is the line that sees them get back in gear after several years of nothing interesting for me.

These look great. I just hope they're more like 6.75" and not EXACTLY 6" scale so they'll fit in with my previous Spawn and Movie Maniacs stuff better.

I'm going to be the cynical one here and say that this line is going to blow. Besides Halo and Sports McFarlane hasn't produced ANYTHING within the last 3 years. And let's not forget the disaster that was Prince of Persia.

With NECA now doing most of the work I say McFAILane just curl up in a corner and die. His monopoly on 7" figures is over so I say just hand over the license to someone else and save yourself the embarrassment of a sub-par line.

    Walking Dead fans deserve more.

I really hope we see more articulation than whats in that pic. I have high hopes for this line, as long as McFarlane does them justice.

Rumors have been floating on the internet for some time now with regards to McFarlane owning the toy license for The Walking Dead. Those rumors can now be laid to rest as this official press release we just received confirms the anticipated license:

McFarlane Toys and Todd McFarlane will be debuting The Walking Dead, HALO Reach and officially licensed NBA, NHL, MLB and NFL 2011 action figure lines at TOY FAIR 2011! We will be located at the Javitz Center, booth #4823, from Sunday, February 13h – Wednesday, February 16th.

UPDATE: MTV Geek expands on this announcement with an exclusive look at one of the figures and details on the first two assortments:

The first series of deluxe 6-inch figures is releasing in September 2011, includes four fan-favorite characters from the Image comic book including:

    THE WALKING DEAD Series 1
    - Officer Rick Grimes
    - Michonne
    - Zombie Lurker
    - Zombie Roamer

The second series of deluxe 6-inch figures is revealed in November 2011 and introduces four figures based on AMC’s original drama including:

    THE WALKING DEAD Series 2
    - Deputy Rick Grimes
    - Daryl Dixon
    - Zombie Walker
    - Zombie Biter

Each human figure includes multiple interchangeable accessories and several points of articulation for limitless possibility and customization. Each zombie figure features unique, gory, play action such as exploding heads and removable limbs. Figures are expected to sell for around $14.99 at retailers nationwide.
