TF13: Hasbro Star Wars Black Top Flight Toys Classified Under A New Color, With A New Scale... Check out all of the Black series Star Wars figures on display at Toy Fair in our gallery HERE. The biggest news in the Star Wars world is the introduction of the Black series, which notably includes the first 6 inch Star Wars figures. At Toy Fair Hasbro reps explained how they went about creating this new line, starting with a specific mission statement to make a new scale with figures that would resonate with fans and collectors, creating emotional connections back to specific, iconic scenes. Next came massive research endeavors with reference photos from Lucasfilm vaults, intricate sculpting (including digital models from Gentle Giant), paint decisions, and finally a whole new package design. And the result? Well, the photos speak for themselves, but here’s the lowdown: The new 6 inch line will debut with eight figures in Fall of 2013. From that group Hasbro showed off X-Wing Pilot Luke Skywalker, Darth Maul (with separating dual lightsaber and interchangeable cloak with a head looking down), R2-D2 (with rocket jets, periscope viewer, probe, and more parts), and a Sandtrooper (comes with the correct pauldron, backpack, pistol, and rifle). Look for plenty more info and pictures of the 6 inch figures coming soon, and more details about the hints Hasbro has dropped for SDCC, like the Mandalorian symbol Boba Fett wears on his shoulder and Han in Carbonite... But Black doesn’t just mean 6 inches. The line will also extend to the traditional 3 ¾, where it will take over all of the super articulated and accessory-heavy figures. In the first series will be an Episode 2 Anakin Skywalker with human and prosthetic hands, super articulated Clone Trooper Sergeant, Biker Scout, Bespin Trap Darth Vader with interchangeable hands (holding Han’s blaster or Force effect), Clone Trooper Pilot, Luke Skywalker Yavin Ceremony (the most screen accurate ever!), Padme Amidala from the Geonosis Arena, and super articulated Biggs Darklighter in pilot suit. Wave 2 will include Mara Jade, Stormtrooper, R2-D2, Pablo Jill, Luminara Unduli, and more. - Scott Rubin Check out all of the Black series Star Wars figures on display at Toy Fair in our gallery HERE.
