Re: ADVANCE LOOK: NECA's SDCC Exclusive GORT Predator

Damn, he looks great! Pre-ordered three of this one and I get another one from someone who attends SDCC.

Can't wait to switch out the new hand with the masked original Predator.

    Thanks for the review!

As NECA places the finishing touches on its upcoming Predator 2 "Lost Tribe" figures, collectors will get a taste of what's to come with this year's San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Predator figure. Available for purchase at NECA's booth #3145 priced ta $20, this brand new Predator figure combines some familiar elements along with some new ones resulting in a very cool looking Predator action figure.

The all-new Gort Predator figure will come in the traditional clamshell package with a "San Diego Comic-Con 2011" sticker proudly stuck on the front.

What makes this Gort figure special is that it features the first Predator's movie body. The story goes that the Gort mask was initially to be the mask worn by the original Predator in the 1987 film. This was obviously changed to the classic bio-helmet we all know and love. However, the Gort mask design was eventually used at the end of Predator 2, but a newly designed body was used in that scene. The result a Predator design that never really made it to film - worthy of an excluive figure, indeed.

The level of sculpted detail put into the Gort face mask is truly remarkable and incredibly film-accurate.

Other things that make this figure special are the two new accessories: a new left hand and bloody severed spine accessory. The sculpt and paint applications on the skull are amazing and it looks great in the Predator's hand for a variety of wild display poses.

The articulation on this Predator is the same as previous Predator figures (read: extensive) and consists of the following:

    - Ball-Socket Neck
    - Ball-Socket Shoulders
    - Ball-Socket Wrists
    - Ball-Socket Ankles
    - Swivel-Hinged Elbows
    - Swivel Waist
    - V-Crotch
    - Swivel Thighs
    - Swivel-Hinged Knees

If you're Predator fan, adding NECA's Gort Predator to your must-get Comic-Con exclusive's check list is a no-brainer. Be sure a drop by booth #3145 to pick this bad boy up for $20. For those that can not attend the show, a limited supply will be made available for purchase via amazon.com.
