Its that time of the year once again when people carve jack-o-lanters and children dress up in their favorite costume to go out asking for treats. The streets are filled with children in disguise with their sack full of candy but what if one of those trick-or -treaters were not human? What if instead of a child under that costume it was actually the spirit of Halloween itself patrolling the town and making sure that the sacred holiday traditions were respected and carried out. But what happens when the sacred traditions are broken or mocked? You may want to go out and grab yourself a copy of Trick R Treat and see for yourself.

Just in time for Halloween, the little horror movie that could has finally been released on DVD and Blu-Ray and thanks to NECA toys, fans of the film can now own there very own Sam action figure.

PACKAGING: The figure is packaged in the usual clam shell packaging that NECA fans are already used to. The package design features a spooky and dark illustration of Sam on the front side of the printed in serif you t and a photo montage with on the back along with some cleverly written text explaining who Sam is. With all the extra treats that Sam includes, taking this figure out of the package is a no-brainer but still looks great for those mint-on-card collectors.

PAINT/SCULPT: NECA has done an amazing job immortalizing Sam in plastic with an incredibly high level of details and equally amazing paint job. Both of the figure’s interchangeable heads feature intricately sculpted details such as the realistic texture on Sam’s creepy burlap mask. The color application work on the figure is some of the best I have seen from NECA recently with just the right blend of colors and dry brushed details which enhance the already impressive sculpt.

ARTICULATION/ACCESSORIES: Although this is not a highly poseable figure, Sam features a few articulated joints which permit some different posing alternatives for collectors. Perhaps the best thing about this figure is the plethora of cool accessories it includes. Aside from a decorative base covered in autumn leaves, this figure also includes 2 jack o’ lanterns, a bladed candy bar, bloody burlap sack and a bitten pumpkin lollipop. All of the pack in accessories are highly detailed and fit almost perfectly in Sam’s hands.

OVERALL: There has been a recent drought of good horror -based action figures lately but NECA has released this gem for a second time to coincide with the DVD and Blu-Ray release of the film. With the Trick R Treat Sam figure, collectors will definitely get more bang for their buck thanks to the hefty amount of packed-in accessories which compliment the already amazingly detailed figure. If you have not seen Trick R Treat yet, you don’t know what your missing but if you have already seen the film or simply love creepy Halloween toys, then go out and get yourself a Sam action figure as soon as you can.
