With near photorealistic graphics in games these days, it seems absurd that kids (and adults) would latch onto a title like Minecraft with such fandom. But such is the power of a game built on a solid foundation of fun; Mojang's sandbox indie creation providing endless hours of entertainment with its addictive three-pronged gameplay modes. As announced earlier this year (HERE), toy maker Jazwares had acquired the license to Minecraft to produce a variety of collectibles, including action figures, plush, and paper craft items. These items have just been released to retail.

The action figures, sure to be the most popular Minecraft collectibles with fans, measure approximately 3 inches tall (4" for the tall and slender Endermen). These retail for $9.99 at mass market stores like Target and up to $11.99 at TRU. Like their blocky counterparts in the game, each figure sports limited articulation, but what makes these great (aside from their endearing pixilated sculpt) is that each figure packs a good amount of accessories. Series One stars:

    • Steve - with Building Block and Pick Axe
    • Enderman - with Grass Block and Mushroom
    • Creeper - with TNT and Gunpowder
    • Zombie - with Redstone Ore and Iron Sword

For those that want a more deluxe Steve action figure, there is also a slightly more expensive ($15.99 at TRU) Core Player Survival Pack (pictured top). This set includes Leather Steve (to my untrained eyes it looks the same as the single release), Workbench, Pick Axe, Sword, Bed, Chest, and Torch. Check out our photo gallery below for images of all these new figures, including new in-package shots of Steve and the Enderman (I bought them for my nephew- one of Minecraft's biggest fans).

For those that go to bed dreaming of Minecraft, Jazwares has released a selection of 7 inch plush to snuggle up to. These include a Creeper, Enderman, Baby Pig and Baby Mooshroom. These retail for around $10.99 each.

Last but not least, creative types will enjoy numerous Minecraft paper craft items. These range in complexity from 45 piece kits (Utility, Hostile Mobs and Animal Mobs themes - SRP $11.99), 100 pieces (Shelter, Minecart and Snow Biome - $17.99), to a massive 225 piece Overworld Deluxe Set ($24.99).
