    NYCC13: Pop Culture Shock

Bravest Warriors, Mortal Kombat, MOTU, More...

Pop Culture Shock Collectibles was at New York Comic Con impressing attendees with their cool collection of statues... and figures! On the figure front, PCSC had their latest license Bravest Warriors represented with new bendie figures (Chris, Beth, Wallow & Danny - SRP $9.99 each), bobbleheads (Catbug, Impossibear, and Jelly Kid - SRP $9.99 each) and a Catbug vinyl figure with sound clip (SRP $39.99). Look for all these items to begin hitting retail in the first quarter of 2014. Oh, and speaking of bendie figures, PCSC had on display two characters - Vito and Wilhelm - from The Reward, an upcoming new fan-made web series.

The brutal fighting game Mortal Kombat received love with massive 1/4th scale statues of the series many Klassic Kombatants. These included Shao Khan ($350, 4Q 2013), Sub-Zero ($335, 1Q 2014), and the four-armed ogre Goro ($450, 2Q 2014). Pre-orders for Goro begin Monday, October 21st at popcultureshocktoys.com. A PCSC Exclusive Edition will include an additional interchangable "teeth baring" head!

Street Fighter, a huge favorite of PCSC's owner Jerry Macaluso, was shown with a cool Gouken vs. Akuma Diorama ($330, 4Q 2013), sold out 1/4 statue of Alex and a stunning life-size bust of Akuma ($699, 2Q 2014). Featuring eerie red LED eyes, Akuma goes up for pre-order on October 28th.

Last but not least, PCSC had head-turnign statues from 2000AD's Judge Dredd in the form of Judge Death ($360, 4Q 2013) and Masters of the Universe galore represented by Beastman ($TBD, 2Q 2014), He-Man ($324, 2Q 2014) and a creepy cool life-size bust of the evil Skeletor ($675, 2Q 2014).

I spoke at length with Jerry Macaluso about what the future holds for Pop Culture Shock, including his much anticipated return to action figures (see HERE). Off the record, I was told of many new and exciting projects and licenses. On the record, Jerry wants to wait until he has something more fully developed and solid to show before announcing anything. I totally respect that in an artist and I'm sure fans will too once they see what's coming...
