[HR][/HR][I]TURTLEMANIA[/I] has hit hard as most retailers have fully stocked their aisles with [B]Playmates'[/B] new [B]Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle[/B] product.  Among the new items being offered are the [B]POWER SOUND FX[/B] Turtles, because the regular action figures just weren’t loud enough.  This assortment of action figures - [B]Leonardo[/B], [B]Donatello[/B], [B]Raphael[/B], and [B]Michelangelo[/B] - are obviously targeted towards younger kids (ages 4+ and up) because they’re bigger all around standing at around the 6” scale range.  And did I mention louder?  These figures slice and dice and yell their way through anything.  What’s not to love?

The unique aspect of these new Turtle toys is that they do sport completely new sculpts and expressions as well as painted pupils to match their cartoon counterparts.  It’s actually odd to see them this way after enjoying the regular action figures so much, but after the cartoon comes out, kids may prefer Turtles with pupils.

Each Turtle comes with their own set of signature accessories that can be stored away in their belts or in their hands.  Leonardo comes with two katana blades as well as the double sheath that plugs into his back.  Raphael comes with two sai, Michelangelo with two nunchuks, and Donatello with one bo staff.  They don’t have any extra paint or detail so that’s a small disappointment.

Each Turtle has two trigger spots that activate the sound and action sounds.  Pull and hold for LONGER battle sounds!

[B]Power Sound FX Leonardo[/B] sounds are triggered by pulling his power coil right arm or left leg.  Leonardo says:

[B]Power Sound FX Michelangelo[/B] makes use of his left and right arms to trigger the sounds and says:

-Look Out!
-No Way!
-High Degree![/B][/CENTER]

After each bit of dialogue, an action sound or clash or swish follows.  The dialogue comes in random order and stalls at a certain spot until you let go of the arm or leg.

Articulation on these figures is more limited than the standard figure series and even more limited depending on which limb becomes an activation point.  Raphael and Michelangelo lose the ability to pose their arms but they still have neck, wrists, hips, and knees (only to rotate the feet).  Leonardo and Donatello lose a poseable arm and leg each but have the same neck, wrists, hips, and knees like the others.

The [B]Power Sound FX Turtles[/B] should satisfy the kids who are too young to have regular action figures as they are articulated just enough to have battles but it’s up to you if you can stand listening to the sounds all afternoon, night, and morning.  Priced at $12.99 each at most retail outlets, it’s just a few dollars more than the standard action figures.  Look for these and the [B]Power Sound FX Shredder[/B] in stores now!
