PHOTO REVIEW: Hot Toys MMS DX-06 Capt. Jack Sparrow

Hot Toy's latest Jack is also the best ever...

Hot Toys, a Hong Kong production house, hit the scene in 2000 producing 1/6 scale military action figures. In 2003, they made their mark with the introduction of licensed properties such as Aliens and Terminator. Now they are one of the premier companies producing 1/6 Scale figures, making some of the finest detailed and authentic figures available today.

Back in December, Hot Toys released MMS DX-06 Captain Jack Sparrow based on his latest appearance in the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. This is not the first time Hot Toys has done the popular Johnny Depp character, this being the third time they have visited the Disney property and it won't be the last as they have already teased a redux version of Cannibal King Jack. The latest figure has been given many upgrades over his predecessors including improved sculpting, costuming, and accessories. And with the addition of the PERS rolling eye system, the character's personality comes out like never before. It's no wonder that the figure was on many of the online collectible sites "Best of" lists for 2011, including ours.

Jack's packaging is fairly plain, with a dark colored box sporting the logo and magnetic sealing flap.

Once open, the pieces of the figure are stacked in layers and removing each layer unveils a new surprise.

As I stated earlier, the figure comes with a plethora of accessories, many more than previous Pirates figures.

The PERS eye system gives Jack some incredible expression.

A lot of hard work and dedication went into ensuring the at Jack's outfit and accessories were as close to the film versions as possible.

Jack's coat is removable by taking off his head and sliding off the sword belt. The sash also has a hidden magnet to help with the removal process.

One of the coolest accessories included with the figure is a scale replica of Jack's flag, something extra that was thrown in for fun.

The ridiculously long (and hilarious) telescope is the Sideshow Exclusive piece. For those that don't get that version, he also includes a regular telescope.

Another fun accessory is the miniaturized Black Pearl in a bottle as seen in the latest film.

For me, the best accessory included with the figure is the scale replica of the Black Pearl steering wheel!

The MMS DX-06 Captain Jack Sparrow, both the regular and exclusiveare still available in stock at Sideshow Collectibles! Get yours now before they sail away!
