Yes, I am waiting with great worry over this.

But someone told me the guy heading this new unheard of company was also responsible for the Narnia figures from a few years back, so there may still be hope. -- IF they don't go and make a dumb choice of scale, that is.

I found the Toybiz figures just got better and better with each wave. The early ones didn't particularly impress me, but by the time we got to things like the Flaming Ringwraith, when you look at the complexity of the engineering involved (had a chance to take one apart once while making a custom) it is just amazing.

And the articulation, sculpts and level of detail just kept getting better and better too.

I really miss getting new Toybiz LOTR figs...

I hope Bridge Direct realizes there are a lot of people out here who feel like me, who would LOVE to buy good new figs in scale with our huge Toybiz LOTR collections.

The news that Bridge Direct will be making action figures from the upcoming HOBBIT movies has many fans concerned (see THE HOBBIT Toy License Awarded to "The Bridge"). Part of that concern is whether or not the new figures will be in scale with Toy Biz's extensive collection. I understand this worry, as there will be new characters introduced with the new films that I would love to have commingle with my past LOTR figs. However, my greatest concern is whether or not the new figures can live up to the high standards set by Toy Biz. This was an incredibly good run of action figures - not just in character selection (read: everyone imaginable, including director Peter Jackson as a hobbit), but in detailed sculpt, articulation and accessories. We'll know the answers to both questions soon enough as the first chapter, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, opens in theaters next year.
