Angry The price/cost of the hobby.

$184.99 for the exclusive Hot Toys Guardian Predator!?!?!?!?!

Crap in heaven! Don't Sideshow & Hot Toys know about the state of the world economy? Do they think they can sustain this kind of insane pricing for a 1:6/12" figure? I know it is an exclusive, but even with exclusivity, it is way overpriced! Their non-exclusive are way over priced as well. Just venting, it really ticks me off if I think about it too much.

Come on oneeye give in to the corporate greed machine. feed it with your money.

I totally agree with you 100% man.
I've been holding up on buying figures except when Hlj.com had their 70% off shipping. Those Monster Hunter Revive figures were calling out to me. hehe

Re: The price/cost of the hobby.

To those that are getting it, congratulations. To those that didn't, it is not a loss. 80% of this particular figure has been released before. I'm sure it will be parted out. All I want is the new breather, biomask, and skull. At least with the last Lost Predator, it was a new head, new body colors, armor, mask and weapon. All unique to it. When I initially saw the sneak peek/preview of this Guardian Predator, I expected the final pictures to be different, pretty shocked and disappointed that it was.

Got to do some mining here to find the picture of the lost predators, I'm pretty sure not just the masks, but the skin colors and armor where all different. Bad form on Hot Toys taking such a short cut with this figure. It's not worth the price.

Edit - When it is parted out, how will you be able to tell a P1 head/body from a Guardian one? P2 armor from Guardian?

I have to agree that this particular figure is a rehash, and I also passed, and didnt think it worth the price. It seems all figures are going up and up. I buy alot less, but what I do get is costly. Saves on room. I am definately getting the Beserker Predator.

I want him as well, but... it's not an exclusive, it's only 2" taller than the other Predators, they want $194.00 plus shipping/tax?!?!?!?! Now, I can make the deep swallow that it would take for $129 for a regular and $139 for an exclusive, but almost $200. I just can't do it, no make that, I won't do it. It looks great, but not the cost. Kind of ticks me off, especially with the state of the global economy.

it is rather tough to come up with the funds for such expensive figures. I just dont buy hardly anything except what I really want. I do still go thru withdrawls and I dont see myself buying anything til the Beserker comes out. Gives me some time to save, However I do agree that HT figs are getting too expensive, as with everything else.

Re: The price/cost of the hobby.

Between HT and SS, their prices have done nothing more for me then encourage me to start customizing 1/6 as well. The cost of the supplies, and my free time, is to me MUCH less then the ridiculously over priced stuff they are selling.

Re: The price/cost of the hobby.

I agree with you guys as well. Those marvel bishoujo and DC amecomi statues are easily $50 dollars. They look nice but getting them all is too much. Especially since FYE had them on clearance for $18 each. Kinda makes you wonder what the profit margin is. Aside from that, Blackest night figures are nearly impossible to find and I've seen them for $20 at local shops.
