Be sure to check out Dark Horse Deluxe to pick up your very own Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl Vinyl Figure.
If you're an English major or a fan of Edgar Allan Poe, you've probably read the poem Lenore. However, you may not have read the comedic misadventures of Roman Dirge's Lenore, inspired by the previously mentioned poem. Originally published in comic book form by Slave Labor Graphics, the Lenore adventures can likewise be seen in a series of 26 animated short films by Sony. Now, fans of Lenore can find her cute little dead form captured in three dimensions thanks to Dark Horse Deluxe, who've also released a PVC figure set as well (watch for a review of this set later this week!). PACKAGING: Attractively packaged in a modest brown window box with the comic book logo across the bottom, Lenore comes ready to be displayed "mint in box" if necessary thanks to the clear plastic across both the front and top. The sides and back of the package feature artwork from the comic as well as a look at what happened prior to Ragamuffin (her doll) ending up inside the python's body (as seen in the vinyl figure). Overall, the box will please retailers and fans alike as it allows the actual product to be seen and accurately portrays the character both in comic and 3-D form. SCULPT: Standing 8" tall, Lenore's comic look comes to life thanks to Dark Horse Deluxe. In the comic, Lenore features a variety of looks; however, this vinyl figure's permanently 'shock' expression fits perfectly Lenore's situation - the swallowing of her Ragamuffin by the python wrapped around her body. Fans of the comic will appreciate the authentic look of this piece; there's no doubt Dark Horse painstakingly replicated the two dimensional artwork to near-perfection. From the tube-like hair, skull barrettes, 'shocked' eyes and facial expression, and snake (with Ragamuffin shape inside it's belly!), the Lenore Vinyl Figure sculpt will surely please fans of the property. PAINT APPLICATION: Accurate to the colors seen in the comic, the paint compliments the sculpt and helps make this a "must own" for fans of Dirge's cute little dead girl. The multi-colored hair, silver skull barrettes, and orange and maroon snake all feature tight, crisp lines and clear colors. The white of the skin, which could scratch or stain or easily than other parts, seems to be the only part of the figure worth mentioning; though this should be avoidable as long as proper care is taken when taking the figure out of the package. COST & OVERALL IMPRESSION: With a suggested retail price of $24.99 and available at some retailers for less, the Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl Vinyl Figure makes a fine addition to any Roman Dirge fan's collection. Accurately depicting not only the 2-D artwork, but attitude and feeling of the comics as a whole, the figure makes a great conversation piece and fans of dark, gothic-style collectibles and dark humor will likewise enjoy its company. Priced well below comparable urban vinyl pieces of this size and quality and considering this is one of the few sculptured Lenore figures available, the figure is a solid purchase. The Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl Vinyl Figure stands 8" tall, features an accurate sculpt and a clean paint application; what's not to like? So what if Ragamuffin is inside the snake? It's not like it's your fault... Be sure to check out the photo gallery below for images of the Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl Vinyl Figure.
