UPDATE - October 21, 2008
Following the mass email delivered to fans last week regarding the cancellation of the Cloverfield Monster figure, a new mass email has been resent to those who ordered the figure.
The email states:
You were incorrectly sent an email recently stating that your order # for the Cloverfield figure was cancelled. The email should have notified you that, due to a production delay, the anticipated arrival date for this item is December 13, 2008. Your order will/has been reinstated. Please contact us if you have any questions at 800.408.0052.While the situation is still confusing, it seems the figure is NOT canceled after all and fans looking forward to this massive monstrosity of a toy should have it in-hand by the end of December.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE - October 15, 2008
According to a mass email sent out to fans and collectors who preordered the monstrous 14" Cloverfield Monster figure from HasbroToyShop.com, the figure has been "discontinued" due to "high demand."
The email states:
Thank you for shopping with HasbroToyShop.com. Due to high demand, the following item(s) you ordered are not currently available. Please note the revised availability of the items below:
DISCONTINUED ITEM(S)
Item number: 92700
Item name: Cloverfield Movie Monster
We've contacted Hasbro in hopes of resolving this mystery. After all, canceling a figure due to its popularity seems almost as odd as the appearance of a 50-story tall sea monster in Time Square.
As soon as we know something, you'll know something...stay tuned.
